The Many Types of Pu-erh Tea

Pu-erh tea is an aged tea that has a unique, earthy flavor. It is highly valued by some tea connoiseurs, and can cost hundreds of dollars for a compressed cake.

Green pu-erh tea is sometimes called "raw" pu-erh. Green pu-erh continues to evolve the longer it is stored. This causes green pu-erh tea to rise in value the longer it is stored, making pu-erh bricks valuable collectibles that some people treat as investments.

Most tea is best fresh. Green tea, black tea, and oolong tea will lose flavor and become stale as they get older. Pu-erh tea is quite different – it is meant to be aged, and the older it is the better it gets.
